Shakira's worldwide breakthrough came 2001, first
with the single "Whenever, Wherever" and then with
the album Laundry Service. Prior to this, she sang
in Spanish. The English language made it possible
for Shakira to gain popularity among a wider
audience worldwide, and indeed people all around the
world really loved this beautiful young woman with a
unique voice and stunning dance moves. An
international superstar was born.
This Colombian-born pop
superstar has released eight studio albums and has
won plenty of awards such as Grammy, MTV and World
